A Community with Deep Roots

St. Paris was founded in 1831 by David Huffman. Originally named New Paris, the village’s name was later changed to St. Paris for postal distinction. The community was officially incorporated in 1858. Today, historic homes, buildings, and local landmarks reflect its longstanding presence in Champaign County and its 19th-century heritage.


One notable historic structure is the Monitor House, recognized on the National Register of Historic Places and valued as part of the village’s architectural history.
